Illness & Medication Policy

 

Illness

• If your child is showing any of the following symptoms of cold, flu, fever, frequent coughing, nausea, diarrhea, severe body aches or any other communicable disease, please keep him/her home and notify the school. If they have experienced any of these symptoms, please keep your preschooler home for at least 24 hours.

• If any of these symptoms appear while your child is at school, we will isolate him/her and contact a parent for pick up as soon as possible. 

• You will be notified immediately if a staff member or one of your child’s classmates has been diagnosed with a serious communicable disease.

• If your preschooler has been diagnosed with a serious communicable disease, a written release from a doctor will be required before your child can be readmitted to school.

• If another member of your family has a serious communicable disease, it is best to keep your preschooler home until the one with the disease no longer has the symptoms and your child is not showing symptoms either. In the case of fever, the sick person should have no fever for at least 24 hours in order for your child to return to school

 

Medication

It’s best for medications to be administered by parents at home. However, if medications are required during school hours, please supply them with instructions, along with a release and written instructions in order that they may be administered appropriately by a staff member. No medication will be administered without written permission from the parent.
